Located in Denton, Texas; Peterbilt is an American manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty Class 5-8 trucks. The company was founded in 1939. Originally the Peterbilt model numbers started with a 2 for single axle tag axle models and a 3 for dual drive models. This distinction was eliminated in the late 1970s.
